Jerome has gone from the most trusted party member to the single most evil being on the planet. He started off as a mild mannered and geeky inventor who got involved with the party when he helped them escape from an enraged mob. However, something happened to him in Dystopia, and Jerome turned evil, using his knowledge of the party to torture them and eventually kill them.
He was convinced that he has the right approach to The Path, and that all his evil acts will be justified in the afterlife. The party finally defeated him at the end of Book V.
